Lane for marks, not raw damage — a stunned enemy eats a full combo from a champion who outranges most top laners. Post-6, Slicing Maelstrom changes what teamfights mean: walk into the middle of a grouped enemy team and the zone stuns anyone who doesn't leave it immediately, which in Classic's slower fights is usually nobody in time. Kite in Lightning Rush storm form to disengage bad trades, and never all-in without at least one mark already on the target.
