Classic vs modernClassic Taric predates the 2016 visual & gameplay update: Imbue is an instant-cast heal (not a channel), Shatter is an armor-shred nuke that restores mana, Dazzle is a straightforward AoE stun, and the ultimate is a flat team damage-aura buff rather than the current gem-empowered ability system.

Counters & matchups

Who this pick beats and who beats it — pick your lane with the matchup in mind.

Quick tip: Dazzle-W trades win lane; your armor aura + shatter shred makes your whole team hit harder — outrageous, truly.

Key combo

Dazzle (E) stun Shatter (W) armor-shred aura Imbue (Q) heal autos, Radiance (R) for AD/aura in the fight

Power spike & playstyle

Spikes at 6 and with early armor; a tanky lane-bully support whose point-and-click Dazzle stun enables all-ins from level 3—strong early, durable late.

Dazzle and Shatter both carry large ability power ratios, so the point-and-click stun that made him a support becomes the opener of a burst combo.

In lane. A stun that cannot be dodged followed by a Shatter behind real AP simply wins the level-two all-in against any bottom lane pairing.
Late. Imbue's heal and Radiance's aura are what make Taric worth a slot at twenty-five minutes, and this build spent that gold on damage instead.

A point-and-click stun, a self-heal on Q and an armour aura on W make him one of the few Season 3 champions who simply cannot be beaten in a melee trade.

Into AD bruisers. Shatter's armour aura plus Ninja Tabi means their trade damage is halved before Imbue even heals it back.
Into ranged or AP tops, and in any game where the team needed him bottom — his stun is far more valuable protecting a carry than winning a side lane.

Guide

How to play Taric in League Classic

Taric brings honesty to bot lane: no tricks, just a point-and-click stun and auras that make your duo statistically better at the game. Dazzle-W trades chunk hard, and his armor aura plus Shatter's armor shred swings both sides of the damage equation at once. Manage mana — everything he casts is expensive — and spike on Sightstone-Aegis like every tank support. In fights, stun the highest-value reachable target and stand where your auras cover both carries. Outrageous, reliable, and quietly game-winning.
