The items modern League forgot
Deathfire Grasp — the one-shot button
The most famous removed item in League history returns: an AP active that deals a chunk of the target's max health and amplifies all magic damage they take afterward. DFG turned Season 3 mids into execution specialists — Ahri, Annie, Veigar and AP Sion all built it, and all of them one-shot squishies with it. If you main a burst mage in Classic, this is your mythic in spirit.
Wriggle's Lantern and the Spirit Stones
Classic's jungle economy runs through items modern players have never bought. Wriggle's Lantern gives lifesteal, armor and a free ward — the sustain backbone for AD junglers like Master Yi and Warwick. The Spirit Stone line (Elder Lizard for AD, Spectral Wraith for AP, Ancient Golem for tanks) converts jungle farming into combat stats. Which spirit item you see a jungler buy tells you exactly what kind of game they intend to play.
Atma's, Shurelya's and the stat-stackers
Atma's Impaler converts max health into attack damage — the reason Season 3 bruisers stacked Warmog's and still hit like trucks. Shurelya's Reverie gives supports a team-wide speed active that decides engages. Add Frozen Mallet perma-slows, Force-of-nature-style regen stacking on Warmog's, and old Aegis → Runic Bulwark team auras, and you get an item meta where stat-stacking identity builds beat modern efficiency math.
Gold per 10 — the support economy
Supports in Classic don't get modern income. They buy gold-per-10 items (Philosopher's Stone line), a Ruby Sightstone that occupies an inventory slot all game, and wards — always wards. It's a poorer, harder support life, and it makes aura items and active items (Locket, Shurelya's, Mikael's) the difference between a support and a spectator. Every support page on this site builds around that economy.
